What is "Chinese Medicine"?

TESTIMONIALS

“From approximately January to early April 2007, I had pneumonia which wasn't getting better despite three sessions of antibiotics. I am grateful to Dr. Sichler that he sent me to Hugo to receive a treatment which would not entail the further use of antibiotics. When I saw Hugo he put me on a special diet as well as herbal medicine. By the end of one week, on this regime, my pneumonia was better. What an amazing accomplishment!

I have also been troubled by a rash which developed in November 2005. The itch coming from this rash was so intense!! After using cortisone creams, I finally got a great deal of improvement from a cream given to me by Hugo. I no longer need to be on extra strength Reactine.

I am most grateful that at the Family Practice Centre of Integrative Health and Healing I can benefit from the many branches of healing that are provided there.

Thank you for my renewed health!"

“I have been fortunate enough to have been seeing Hugo for several years now thanks to a referral from my physician when she diagnosed me with an auto immune condition she had no treatment for. Because this condition causes dryness in the eyes, nose and throat and the entire lymphatic system she felt Hugo could be helpful. His expert treatment has kept this condition under control and was only the beginning of the multitude of benefits I have enjoyed from being in his care. One of the immediate results was the disappearance of my restless leg syndrome which I had suffered from for many years. In another instance I had terrible intensive pain which he eliminated in minutes.

I could go on and on... I have sent so many friends, colleagues and relatives to him and have seen some awesome results with migraines gone, allergies vanished, years of chronic pain diminished, and general health greatly improved.

I would be happy to speak with anyone who is considering seeing Hugo and highly recommend a consultation with him. I know for sure that a visit with him will be nothing less than a pleasant and worthwhile experience.

I find the work Hugo does absolutely fascinating and such a nice change in approach from the Western medicine we've come to think of as 'normal'. As you can tell, I am an avid fan and advocate for Hugo's form of Chinese Medicine and am constantly referring to him and his expertise.

“In March, 2006, I fell down a flight of steps and seriously injured my back. I was diagnosed with a concussion at the hospital, and the neurologist warned me that I would be in severe pain for a month at least. For a period of one week the pain was so severe that I was unable to move my upper left shoulder at all, nor was I able to raise my arm. I ingested chemical painkillers but these were only marginally effective and had serious side effects. I hardly slept.

A friend suggested that I seek the services of an acupuncturist, to relieve the pain. I was skeptical, but decided that it might be worth a try. I have never given acupuncture much thought. In fact, though I'd heard that it could be useful, I had assumed its role was a mere placebo. Hugo was the acupuncturist we approached. He was extremely professional and careful.

Without a great deal of time, Hugo decided that only three needles were necessary. Only one of them was directly on my shoulder. At first, there was no noticeable effect on my body. However, after he manipulated one of the needles, interestingly the one on my foot, I felt a sharp release of something-- a tingling or spasm of some kind, though more subtle that this may sound. The sensation was similar to the pins-and-needles effect that a foot or hand feels when it "goes to sleep". It was not painful, but not entirely pleasant, either.

Almost immediately, to my extreme shock, I found I had almost full mobility and the entire pain in my shoulder had reduced by maybe half.

Hugo took those needles out, and chose one more point on my right wrist. When he inserted that needle and manipulated it, I felt a deep ache radiate up my arm. I was asked to move my left arm and shoulder. This time the effect was even deeper - I had full mobility and now here was no pain. There was no trace of it.

The pain did return, though only slowly, over a two week period. It was never as severe as it had been before the treatment.

To say that I was shocked would be an understatement. This was the most effective, not to mention the only effective, pain relief I had experienced over the course of my treatment for this injury. Not only was it effective at relieving the pain, but I had full use of my arm and shoulder instantly. There was no delay time.

I can honestly say that I have no idea how this treatment worked. I have no ability to explain it in any way. All I can say is that it was extremely effective. Were I to suffer from this sort of pain again I would avoid all chemical painkillers, which proved useless, and seek out a competent acupuncturist, likely Hugo himself.

"I would like to thank Dr. Konigsberg and the other health professionals and administrative staff at your clinic.  Over the years, I took advantage of the holistic approach offered by FPCIH and I explored and received benefits from counseling, meditation, reiki, acupuncture, nutritional guidance and massage in addition to more traditional forms of medical advice.  Although I continue to struggle with food, with the help of your clinic, I have cleared a lot off my plate (wouldn’t you know it... a food analogy) and am now far more empowered to do the ongoing work I need to do.  I will be forever grateful for the non-judgmental advice, care and guidance I received especially from Dr. Konigsberg, Dr. Sichler, Hugo and Maralyn."
